Partnership boosts GGP Installer Awards 2023

The glazing industry’s skills champion has partnered with Glass and Glazing Products (GGP) magazine to support GGP‘s Installer Awards next spring. Building Our Skills – Making Fenestration, Glass and Glazing a Career of Choice (BOS) is now an official supporting organisation of GGP’s Installer Awards, which celebrates glazing installers, show-stopping installation projects and the innovations and services that positively impact the installer community.

GGP is set to benefit from the wide range of advice and expertise offered by BOS’ team, especially Mark Simpson (pictured), BOS’ practical skills trainer, who has agreed to join the judging panel. GGP’s Installer Awards are scheduled to be presented on 16 March 2023 at the Midland Hotel in Manchester. Entries will be invited in early July 2022.

“It is truly an honour to have BOS support us in this way,” said Charissa King, GGP editor. “As a longstanding supporter of inclusion at all levels of our industry, I admire BOS ethos and passion for bringing more people into glazing, and tackling the skills crisis our sector faces in the process.

“Installation is a key area where a lack of replaceable skills is evidently impacting businesses. As BOS is a provider of accredited practical training, it is arguably in the best position to advise on whether the installations we’re judging are of the highest quality. I look forward to furthering this partnership and am grateful indeed for BOS’ support.”

BOS is committed to bridging the growing skills gap by working closely with employers and other organisations to attract new entrants to the glazing industry (for example, read more about its awareness-raising campaign in schools). It also works to upskill the existing workforce and inspire them to see the industry as a home for their long-term career ambitions, not just “a job for now”. The organisation works with industry employers as well as individual employees to help promote its message that the industry is a home for everyone, whatever their skills and whatever their career ambitions.

BOS aims to inform, encourage, support and inspire. Read more about its work and how you can get involved at buildingourskills.co.uk.
