Reynaers to host webinar debunking thermal efficiency measures

Reynaers Aluminium is hosting a webinar on Thursday (21 April) to inform architects and specifiers of how changes to Part L of the UK building regulations will impact them. The 2-hour webinar starts at 10am, and follows on from its successful series of roadshows held in Birmingham, Manchester and London, which covered what technical changes must be made to both new and replacement thermal elements, windows and doors, to remain compliant. More than 150 construction industry suppliers attended the roadshows.

This latest webinar offers another opportunity for construction suppliers and service providers to understand how the new standards, which come into force from 15 June 2022, will impact their businesses. Key dates are:
• 15 June 2022: Interim update to Part L (30% carbon reduction target).
• June 2025: Full implementation (75% carbon reduction target).

John McComb, Reynaers’ director of technical services, said: “The Future Homes Standard demands new buildings produce at least 75% less carbon emissions, and the new updated regulations are interim measures to achieve this. We have been working for well over a year to ensure our products and systems meet, and in some cases exceed, these new standards, and this webinar provides an opportunity for us to answer some of the key questions our customers are raising.”

Among the roadshow attendees was Chris Archer, managing director at C&A Window Systems, who said the session helped to clear up a lot of confusion and armed him with answers for his customers. He said: “Our service is predominantly the upper end of the residential market, and the smaller end of the commercial market, so we’ve had to be on board with these changes. We wanted to find out what Reynaers were doing about them, because we have manufactured for them for around two years.

“The confusion we’ve found from customers is around the U-value requirement, and whether it would affect every window we make for them, and if they all must comply, or can the project be looked at overall. We’ve been taking time to tell them, on the back of this session, what needs to happen, and to also widen their knowledge.

“I would recommend anyone involved in manufacturing or specifying products to go along to the webinar, as John is very engaging and gives you a lot of information without overloading the session. The Reynaers technical team have been at the forefront of this.”

Anyone interested in attending the webinar can sign up today. Reynaers has created a dedicated page to support suppliers and provide further information about the coming changes to Part L: reynaers.co.uk/partL.
