53% of window fabricators in the UK see rising material costs as being their most significant challenge in 2023, according to a study conducted by ElectricalDirect. While the survey indicated a general acceptance of the difficult trading landscape, some of the 500 tradespeople surveyed were cautiously optimistic.

The survey revealed that 11% of UK window fabricators think their companies will have a good year in 2023. Just 11% of respondents indicated the industry will grow stronger over the coming months. 16% indicated that they will be better off financially in 2023 while a similar proportion (32%) noted that they are looking to expand and hire new staff.

The top five challenges for UK window fabricators in 2023, according to this survey, are:

1) The rising cost of materials (53%)
2) Customers doing their own DIY work (42%)
3) Rising fuel costs (26%)
4) Getting hold of materials (26%) and
5) Getting hold of tools and equipment (21%).

Dominick Sandford, ElectricalDirect’s managing director, said: “It’s been a really tough couple of years, both nationally and for the industry. But while many challenges remain, it’s encouraging to see that some tradespeople are feeling positive about the future as we approach 2023.” For more information about the report, click here.
