Walker Profiles rewards excellence

Fifteen workers from Scotland based Walker Profiles were recognised with three different SVQ qualifications at a special Skills Excellence Award ceremony, attended by MP for Motherwell and Wishaw, Frank Roy.

The staff members from the PVC-U windows and doors company were presented with a range of industry recognised qualifications in window installation and surveying, following an impressive 100% pass rate of those taking part.

The awards represented the conclusion of the first phase of a training and investment programme for all staff at the company.

In addition to its training programme, Walker Profiles has demonstrated its commitment to creating local job opportunities by recruiting three young trainees with the assistance of North Lanarkshire Council, all of whom have now been awarded full- time contracts.

Jim Gibson, managing director of Walker Profiles said:
“We are all extremely proud of the team of 15 workers who have become the first to complete their SVQ training courses. We are absolutely committed to being the company of choice for those seeking the complete solution of the manufacture, installation and maintenance of high quality PVC-U windows and doors and it’s the skills and talent of our people that can make that happen.

“We are committed to maintaining our high standards of knowledge and expertise as this is, we believe, what sets us apart from our competitors. Investment in our team reflects how delivering customer excellence is at the heart of everything we do.

“This investment has not just been in our team however – over the last four years, despite challenging economic conditions Walker Profiles has invested to the tune of £250,000 to create a state-of-the art manufacturing and maintenance infrastructure to enhance the range of products and services which it can offer to its customers. I would like to thank all our partners for their support in help in keeping Walker Profiles at the forefront of our industry.”

MP for Motherwell and Wishaw, Frank Roy, who attended on the day to help present the awards, said:
“I have to commend Walker Profiles for its efforts in bettering its workforce, making it one of the best trained teams in the industry.

“Employees are the most valuable asset of any business and it is great to see this Motherwell based business recognise this and help its workers of all ages seize the opportunity to secure industry recognised qualifications that will help them progress in their career.”
