Baerlocher UK has been named as overall winner in Veka Group’s Supplier of the Year awards, as well as coming top in the ‘Raw Materials’ category.

Other category winners this year included; Chick Plastics for ‘Ancillaries’ for the second year running, and Boal UK for ‘Technical In-House Design’.

Baerlocher specialises in manufacturing PVC additive mixtures using calcium-based PVC stabiliser technology. The company supplies Veka Group with a specially formulated stabiliser/lubricant, that is designed to ensure that Veka and Halo profiles benefit from excellent processing, heat stability, weatherability, impact resistance, colour, colour fastness and plate-out properties – as well as high quality UV resistance.

Veka Group’s purchasing manager, Nicola Woods, said: “We know that we are only as good as each single item we send out, and our customers deserve to be consistently delighted with the quality of our products. This is why we are so stringent in the selection of our suppliers. Each one must meet a host of requirements and undergo constant monitoring to ensure these standards don’t drop.

“Key suppliers are provided with a monthly ‘vendor rating report’ which outlines how we have judged their performance. They are graded on quantitative data such as number of non-conformances and ‘on time in full’ deliveries, but also on qualitative data such as customer service, flexibility and timely responses to queries.

“This means we can keep a close eye on the supply chain, allowing us to continue providing the best possible customer experience. Suppliers must achieve or exceed a benchmark score each month (without fail!) in order to remain on our approved suppliers list.

“This data also enables us to offer well-deserved praise where it’s due, and these awards give us chance to acknowledge the hard work of our top suppliers.”
