Gold-standard entrance upgrade

upgrade

A team from Gold Seal Home Care installed Epwin Window Systems‘ curtain walling and Optima windows as part of an upgrade project to the entrance to a block of residential flats in the Greystone Gardens area of Rutherglen, Glasgow. Owned by the Rutherglen and Cambuslang Housing Association, the project required the upgrade of six windows, an upgrade to the main entrance door and curtain walling screening that was 8077m high by 2360m wide, across the three stories of the building. Gold Seal Home Care is an Epwin Window Systems fabricator and installer that has been supplying and fitting window systems in Scotland for more than 30 years.

Working closely with the in-house Epwin Window Systems commercial specification team, the team from Gold Seal Home Care was able to find the most effective solution to help Rutherglen and Cambuslang Housing Association manage its budget and ensure they secured the contract. The commercial specification team was also on hand throughout the entire process as part of the company’s end-to-end service.

Following an initial on-site survey to establish the project requirements, the commercial team from Epwin Window Systems produced detailed specification drawings to demonstrate the proposed solution. The team also developed fabrication cutting lists and provided fabrication assistance. The products were manufactured in Hazy Grey on white, to match the building’s aesthetics and provide a seamless visual finish.

“Our commercial specification team adds value to our service and, by extension, to our commercial customers,” explained Gary Millership, Epwin Window Systems’ specification manager. “It’s a level of support we are proud to offer all our approved commercial customers.”

Despite several challenges – including the building’s complex brick and plasterwork construction, specialist scaffolding being needed due to access restrictions, and adverse weather conditions – representatives of Gold Seal Home Care and Epwin Window Systems worked together to ensure that installation ran smoothly. Installation was scheduled for January, and took just three days to complete.
