Cambs door business reports rapid growth

Universal Composite Doors, in Cambridgeshire, has reported continued rapid growth in a sector that’s booming and shows no signs of stopping anytime soon. The company has invested in excess of £1.25m in a move and fit out to a new 27,000ft² factory, along with new, state-of-the art plant and equipment to handle sustained expansion. The new factory is 15 miles north of Cambridge, offering superb road links for distribution.

The move to new premises during the summer was key to the company’s vision for 2022: ‘any style of door in any RAL sprayed colour supplied in 10 working days’. Already known for manufacturing doors to the highest standards, using quality components including either Liniar or Duraflex profile, Yale multi-point locks and SFS adjustable hinges as standard, Universal’s significant investment provided the necessary infrastructure for scale.

With a robust supply chain in place, the company’s plans are both ambitious and achievable, the business claims. Neil Peck, manging director, said: “We’re probably the fastest growing privately owned composite door manufacturer servicing the trade and retail sector of our industry. This is an incredibly exciting time for the team at Universal. Becoming the ‘go to’ manufacturer in this space promises great opportunities for all.”

Universal has also welcomed a new sales director to the team. Haydon Statham had worked with Neil for more than 15 years in a previous business within the door sector. The pair are excited to be working together again. H

Other new appointments have been made within the office team, alongside an ongoing recruitment campaign for factory operatives and drivers. What’s more, the business has continued to invest in the team and staff through outsourced consultancy and mentoring, to develop a top-performing, customer-centric and focussed team.
