G22 judges shortlist Deceuninck for sustainability

Judges

Judges of the 2022 G-Awards (G22) have shortlisted Deceuninck in the Sustainability Initiative of the Year category. Winners are due to be announced at the Intercontinental London Park Lane on 25 November.

Deceuninck was recognised because of the work it is doing to lower the environmental impact of its operations, and its development of new products, business representatives have said. The business launched its new product, Elegant, at the end of September. The product has been marketed to maximise thermal performance, achieving a U-value of as low as 0.88W/m2K.

The company has committed to the corporate carbon reduction scheme, Science Based Targets (SBTi). This commitment includes plans to cut the CO2 emissions from its own operations (Scope 1 and 2) by 60% by 2030 from a 2021 baseline, according to leaders of the business. Deceuninck also committed to cutting emissions from within its supply chain (Scope 3 emissions) by 48% per tonne by 2030, as part of its wider journey to net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Moreover, the company’s recycling facility gives it the capacity to reprocess up to 45,000 tonnes of post-consumer and post-manufacturing PVC-U per year.

Rob McGlennon, Deceuninck’s managing director, said: “We know that our customers working in the commercial and specification sectors are already having to evidence the embodied carbon in the products that they supply. But it’s no less important in retail as homeowners seek out sustainable products.

“Sustainability is fast becoming a prerequisite for growth and profitability. We’re committed to working with our customers and the wider industry to make sure that we are doing everything we can to lower greenhouse gas emissions and the impact of our operations on the environment.”

Rob added: “There’s a lot happening but still a lot of work to do. We are, however, delighted that the progress that we and our customers have made to date has been recognised in a G-Awards shortlisting. We look forward to getting together with our customers and our colleagues in the industry in London in November.” Read more about Deceuninck’s commitment to sustainability in the October edition of GGP.
