Glass balustrade installation made simple

Installing glass balconies and balustrades without a handle rail, for a minimal and high-end finish, is not only trending but is, helpfully, more straightforward than ever, says wholesale distributor CR Laurence, promoting its CRL Posiglaze system. Fully adjustable even on uneven surfaces, Posiglaze features a unique clamping design and a reportedly quick and easy adjustable method to align glass panels without a handrail. Designed out of extruded aluminium, the product is lightweight yet extremely strong.

Installation is possible in just four easy steps, says the distributor: fit the base channel to the substructure, clip the glass side clamps to the bottom edge of the glass panel, position the glass in the channel and attach the cover strip and bead gasket. The surface mount and the fascia mount base shoes can both accommodate 12mm to 21.52mm glass, thanks to the unique clamp kit design, providing a versatile, easy-to-use installation method for rail-free glass balustrades.

Also suitable for residential projects, CRL Spig-Lite Pro is a fully adjustable glass balustrade system with a clamping design that removes the need to hold glass with locking pins. Elongated holes allow for the easy adjustment of glass panels, again ensuring that the glass’ top edge is equal when a handrail is not required. The system achieves 0.74kN loading and features individual spigots that raise the glass to 32mm above floor level, creating a natural drainage solution; no water can get trapped inside the balcony area, the company says.

Both systems are designed for use with toughened monolithic glass or toughened laminated glass, and have been tested to BSi standard 6180:2011. For more information call CRL on 01706 863600, email crl@crlaurence.co.uk, or visit www.crlaurence.co.uk.
