Kenrick marks split spindle milestone

Kenrick 83 - split spindle door lockKenrick has marked a successful first year since the launch of its Excalibur split spindle door lock. Demand for this versatile product has reportedly exceeded anticipated levels and the Excalibur split spindle door lock now accounts for 20% of Kenrick’s door lock sales.

Steve Williams, sales and marketing director at Kenrick, said: “We are delighted with how well our split spindle door lock has performed in the first 12 months since its launch. We developed this product in response to customer demand for a product that delivers guaranteed speed, simplicity and versatility to the fabricator, without compromising on performance. Several top hardware distributors and fabricators have added the lock to their range of products and are reaping the benefits of being able to quickly and cost effectively fabricate either a lever/lever or a lever/pad system from just one lock.”

The high specification door lock is a practical alternative to traditional twin spindle locks which require a longer back plate for all types of operation. It incorporates a standard 92mm centre, which accommodates both long and short back plate handles and either a solid spindle to create a lever/lever lock or a split spindle to create a lever/pad lock. This solution is a versatile alternative to traditional twin spindle locks which need to use a longer back plate regardless of the operation of the lock.

Like the rest of the Excalibur range, the Excalibur split spindle door lock has been developed to provide exceptional levels of security for the homeowner. Benefitting from three hooks, two steel anti-lift bolts and three rollers, it is designed to provide trouble-free performance.

For convenience, the Excalibur split spindle door lock is easily extendable. It utilises a gearbox which is sprung to overcome the need for costly sprung handle sets. A wide choice of components, including a one-piece keep, individual hook roller and centre hook latch and roller keeps, is also available.

An added advantage of the door lock for installers is its flexibility after installation; the operation of the door set can easily be altered by simply changing the handles and spindles without having to change the lock or re-route the door sash.
