Window team on target for charity climb

A team from Target Windows, Staffordshire, aims to reach new heights this month as the group prepares to take on Yorkshire’s famous Three Peaks Challenge this weekend. In taking on the challenge, the team hopes to raise money for Anthony Lockley, who has motor neurone disease (MND). Anthony is a friend of the business’ owners and directors Jane Basnett and Mick Tune.

Led by Guy Basnett, Target Windows’ director, a team of dedicated employees based at either the company’s Stone and Uttoxeter showrooms or Meir Heath head office, plan to take on the challenge this weekend, on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 July. Offering context to the team’s charity climb, the business’ owner, Mick, said: “We have known Anthony and his family for a long time. He is a much-loved member of the community and a truly decent stand-up guy. To learn the news that he has developed this scary and unforgiving condition was heart-breaking.

“He has worked hard all his life to bring up his family of two daughters and a wonderful son who has Downs Syndrome. All he’s ever done is work hard to give them a start in life but he was then struck with this disease when he should be looking forward to finally retiring and having a rest. We really need people to dig deep to help him.

“The money raised will go towards hopefully giving the family a better quality of life, as well as funding much-needed physiotherapy aids, equipment, care and house adaptations as they learn to live with MND.” Customers, colleagues and friends have been donating direct to Target Windows and via a dedicated JustGiving page. So far, the company has raised and nearly £700.

Target Windows is also set to install a new front door at Anthony’s family home in the next couple of weeks. The door has an approved low access threshold that will make life easier getting in and out of the house. This has very kindly been donated by Central Window Systems, Target’s main supplier of windows and doors.

“We wish the Target team every success this weekend,” said Charissa King, editor of Glass and Glazing Products magazine. GGP first reported on Target’s fundraising effort last August.
